Star Wars: A New Hope at the Frida Cinema 2025

Dear Adventure Avenue,

In January 2025, I went to the Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, California to watch Star Wars: A New Hope. It is one of my “bucket list” goals to watch every single Star Wars movie in theatre. Now, I only need to see Star Wars Attack of the Clones in theatre.

This particular movie screening was extra special because it included a Q&A with Craig Miller. Craig Miller had worked for Lucasfilm in its early days in their licensing department.

Craig Miller was there before the movie selling his books and merchandise original to the film. While I was browsing, he told us that when they were filming The Empire Strikes Back, some of the crew had to stay many train stations away because there wasn’t enough lodging at the film site for the on location Hoth scenes.

I ended up only buying his book, Star Wars Memories: My Time in the (Death Star) Trenches. He signed it and wrote a Star Wars quote in it.

The movie was great – although the family I saw it with all complained that it wasn’t the original cut.

After the movie, we stayed for the Q&A. Unfortunately, the presenter wasn’t great and kept interrupting Craig. I’m definitely glad I got the book, so I can hear more from him!

After the movie, we went and got slices of pizza at Loosies Pizza across the street.

There weren’t a lot of table to sit at, but the pizza was good! It was cold that night, but if it hadn’t been, it would’ve been nice to sit on their patio.

Until next time,

A
