Dear Adventure Avenue,
GOAL #1: VOLUNTEER SIX TIMES THIS YEAR!
I volunteered at Chino Hill State Park and pulled out invasive species of plants, including poisonous hemlock, mustard, and thistle. It was a lot of fun!
GOAL #2: READ SOME SUPER OLD BOOKS:
- The Bible – I read some of the Bible
- The Iliad
- The Odyssey – I received a copy of this as a gift.
GOAL #3: ACTUALLY STRENGTH TRAIN AND EXERCISE THIS YEAR…
And make an actual plan to do so, integrating other workouts (like yoga and Pilates). Minutes did not motivate me enough, but a well developed plan just might work out (pun intended).
I’m planning on 4 work outs a week for January and February.
I’ve been pretty good about doing at least 2 strength trainings a week, but yoga is usually the one to go during a busy week.
In January, I had ClassPass so I did a lot of yoga and Pilates classes!
GOAL #4: SPEND MORE TIME OUTSIDE!
Outside at least 25 days a month. I’m doing this in the vein of 1000 hours outside. Let’s not be couch potatoes!
I’m going to try out some habit tracking apps to help me keep track of this!
Some things I’d like to do this year:
- Hike
- Swim at the pool
- Kayak
- Go to the beach
- Horseback Ride
- CAMP!!!
The past two months, I’ve made sure to go outside and walk almost every night. I’ve done some outside activities like played softball, done a nature walk to learn about Vernal Pools, and volunteered to pull weeds at Chino Hills State Park.
GOAL #5: CREATE A BLOG POSTING SCHEDULE AND STICK TO IT!
I want to post all of the fun trips I took in 2025, so I can remember them and easily find all the places I’ve been!
And if this goal helps get rid of the 13,388 pictures on my phone, even better!!
I’m going to start with scheduling one hour a week sessions to write blog posts + 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week to post on Instagram and Pinterest.
I don’t think this was a realistic goal considering the amount of time I have spent on papers for my MBA. Trying to find a good balance.
GOAL #6: READ 26 BOOKS THIS YEAR.
With getting my MBA this year, I think it may be a little difficult to hit 50 books, so I’m focusing on 26 for 2026 this year!
In January and February, I read 5 books. I was on a big audiobook kick and all the books I read were audiobooks from Libby.
- The Comfort Crisis – This book made me want to camp and be outside more.
- The Buy Nothing, Get Everything Plan – Overall good book on the importance of community and how to avoid over consuming.
- In Your Dreams by Sarah Adams – SO glad I finally finished the series! Another cute rom-com book
- Supercommunicators – Learn how to super communicate with others.
- Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green – really enjoyed this book because it reminded me of the Green Brothers’ YouTube Channel I used to watch in school.

Until next time,
A
