Central Coastal California Road Trip January 2023 Day 1

Dear Adventure Avenues,

Our drive started very early (5:30!), but we were ready for our adventure! Our first stop of the day was Solvang. We arrived earlier than we expected, so we found a coffee shop to hangout in until the town started opening up.

I got a tea at the Coffee House by Chomp. They had a delicious Organic breakfast black tea that I enjoyed. My friend got chocolate chip cookies that she let me try. It was quite good dipped in my hot tea.

Once everything started opening, we explored the small town.

Our first stop was the mission Santa Inez. On our walk there, we passed by the famous windmill and took some pictures. Along the way we also poked our heads into some of the bakeries.

We ended up taking the tour at the mission, and we’re glad we did because we were able to see and listen to everything.

The tour also gives you access to the little garden.

After the mission, we walked to the Hans Christian Andersen museum and book shop. I think I was happier with the attic used bookstore than the actual “museum” part.

Then we walked to get some brunch at Aunt Paula’s Pancake House. Our friend who recommended it said that it could be busy; however, I think it must be off-season because there was no wait and hardly anyone there or in town for that matter.

We walked around a little more and then decided to head to our hotel in San Luis Obispo.

We had already checked in online, so we headed straight up to our room!

We decided to stay at the hotel for the night and enjoy the evening reception and get dinner there. I got the cheeseburger which was okay.

Until tomorrow,

A
