Dear Adventure Avenue,
After discovering I didn’t really care the taste of Butterfly Pea Tea, I was really disappointed. I wanted to like it because it was so cool, but I couldn’t get past its earthy taste. That’s when it hit me – lemonade would change the color just like a regular lemon would. So here is my recipe for Butterfly Pea Tea Lemonade. It will become a beautiful lilac color when you are finished!
What you need:
- Butterfly Pea Tea bags (I used this brand)
- Lemonade (I used Minute Maid, but you could use any brand or even homemade)
- Ice
- Water
- A mug/teapot (I used a Death Star tea pot, but they don’t sell that one anymore. This BB-8 teapot is very similar!)
- Glass cup for final product so you can see the magic
1. Steps Boil or heat up your water. (I used an electric kettle)
2. Put hot water in a mug or a mini teapot (I’m using my Death Star teapot)
3. Steep one tea bag for 5-15 minutes. You can stick it in the fridge to start cooling it off if you want to. The longer you steep it the darker the blue will be.
4. After steeping time, remove the tea bag and squish out all the water in it. (Be careful if the water is still hot).
5. Add ice to your glass cup
6. Fill the cup a little less than halfway full of tea
7. Add lemonade to fill up the rest of your glass and watch the magic happen! (I added the video down below).
I really like how this lemonade tastes and how it’s a pretty light purple color! I hope you like it too!
Enjoy,
A
