Day 4 January 2, 2024
Dear Adventure Avenue,
Today was our Normandy tour so we had to get up early to meet our tour guide downstairs where they were picking us up. Our guide was Lucile and very knowledgeable. On the way there, we stopped at a gas station where we got teas and coffee for the drive there.
First, we toured Pointe du Hoc. The weather today was very similar to the weather conditions on D Day so it was an emotional day of imagining what the soldiers experienced.
We also visited Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery, and Arromanches.
In Arromanches, we ate at a local cafe called Hotel de Normandie.
My brother and I had the cheeseburgers with fresh buns. Mere had the best mussels I’ve ever tasted. Dad and Mom had the Croque Monsieur and our guide had the fish and chips.
We then had about an hour of free time where we went into the museum there and learned more about the artificial harbor they installed to move Allied Troop supplies into Normandie.
Then we drove back to Paris with a stop at a gas station again.
We went to the Club level for drinks/ Of course I had tea!
Mayo in the hotel for dinner. Mom and I split a chicken Caesar salad, dad had the same, my brother had a cheeseburger, and Mere had a delicious truffle fettuccine.
Until tomorrow,
A
