My family went on a trip to Walt Disney World during Thanksgiving break where we stayed at Disney’s Boardwalk Villas. Our room and restaurant reservations were all booked by Hannah Little who is a FABULOUS Disney Vacation Planner. I’ve linked her website here. She’s amazing! We had the best time and were able to do everything we wanted to do and more.

Dear Adventure Avenues,
Today was Thanksgiving and our last full day in Florida. We were scheduled to go to Hollywood Studios in the morning, so I got up at 7am and booked us a lightning lane for Smuggler’s Run and then promptly went back to sleep for an hour.
We went straight to Smuggler’s Run once we were in the park because as soon as we used that Lightning Lane, we could get another one. After we had scanned all our tickets, I booked us Toy Story Mania.
We did the best we had ever done on Smuggler’s Run. We got both crates of Quaxium and ended up in the asteroid field at the end. We think this is the farthest you can go. My brother and I were pilots. I do the side to side and he does the up and down. Our parents were gunners and we had two strangers as engineers who did an excellent job.
Then we went on Toy Story Mania. I didn’t do as well on it this time as the last time I’d been on it, but it was still fun. Unfortunately, I ended up getting a little motion sick on that ride.
We decided to take a rest outside of the Indian Jones show until they let people in for the noon showing.
The show was slightly different from the last time because they no longer take audience participants. (There used to be one plant in the audience who’d go up with the rest of the audience and then show off). It was a great way to rest and it put us right at our lunch reservation.
50s Prime Time Cafe
We went to the 50s Prime Time Cafe for lunch, and it was so much fun. It was definitely a great place to go on Thanksgiving. We had Aunt Whitney as our waitress, and she was a hoot. At the Cafe, you have rules at the dinner table. These rules include no cell phones, no elbows on the table, you must eat your veggies, and you must say please and thank you. I absolutely loved it. My dad thought he’d be a funny guy and hide his vegetables and Aunt Whitney had to show everyone around us. That got quite a laugh.
I had the fried chicken (you could definitely split this – so much food!). My mom got the chicken salad, my dad got the turkey dinner (a Thanksgiving special), and my brother got the chicken tenders (if I remember correctly). For dessert, we split an apple crisp.
Blue milk
My dad and I decided to stay a bit longer in Hollywood Studios to get blue milk in Star Wars land as we hadn’t tried it yet. It was quite good. I think I prefer green milk though.
My dad and I took the boat back to the hotel, but we got off at the Swan and Dolphin and walked over the bridge. This was faster for us because our room was closer to the Swan and Dolphin dock and the boat would’ve stopped at the Beach Club before stopping at the Boardwalk.
We rested in the room for a bit. We went hard the first days we were there and quite frankly got tired.
My dad and I then walked to Norway because I wanted to try a Lefse which is like a tortilla filled with butter, cinnamon, and sugar. I think it would’ve been tastier warm, but I heard that it was the traditional way to serve it.
Pizza for Dinner
Then we met up with my mom and brother at Pizza al Taglio for pizza for dinner. It was a thicker crust pizza that was different from the previous day.
We decided to go to Hollywood Studios again after dinner to see the Projection show on the Chinese Theater, but on our way back, my brother spied the shaved ice stand in Japan and got a blue raspberry snow cone.
The projection show was just okay. The sound was good, but we wanted Star Wars music in it. There was Indiana Jones but no Star Wars.
My dad and I went to Smuggler’s Run after the show because the line was only 20 minutes long. I would say we only waited about 15 minutes. We ended up both being gunners because there was a couple in front of us who got the pilots. The woman in the party didn’t realize she had to constantly keep steering as I heard her remark afterwards, “I didn’t know I had to keep steering”. My dad and I still enjoyed it, even though we didn’t make it as far as earlier. In some ways, it was better because it’s a different storyline.
We headed back to the room on foot and took the stairs up to our room (it was closer to our room than going all the way to the elevator and all the way to our room).
We packed up all our bags because we were leaving before the crack of dawn the next morning. I ate the other half of my dad’s Napoleon from France and went to bed.
Early Morning Departure
Our private Meers shuttle driver was late picking us up. The car also had lots of service warning lights. My dad thinks he fell asleep after he texted my mom, he was picking her up. It all worked out though. My mom was upgraded to First class but the rest of us were in economy and luckily had no one in the middle seat. There was a little turbulence throughout the flight, so I couldn’t sleep. I watched season 5 of the Crown instead.
Until next time,
A
