Dear Adventure Avenue,
After spending the night at the Hyatt Regency Westlake, we ate at the hotel buffet before heading to the Reagan Presidential Library which was about a 15-minute drive from the hotel.
The location of this library is at the top of a hill and the grounds are beautiful.
We had the first entry at 10am, and because we became members of the library’s Foundation which allowed us to enter into the building first, before general entry.
After checking in and getting our stickers, we immediately headed towards Airforce One because we wanted to get pictures without any people in the way.
We rushed through the exhibit, but then stopped when we met some docents who showed us the Oval Office exhibit. We were glad we stopped when we did because we got the docent to ourselves and no one else was in the room.
According to the docent, the jelly beans were Reagan’s idea to replace the peanuts that nobody liked.
The Air Force One Hanger
We headed to see Air Force One, and we were the first people to board it that morning – aside from the docents.
We were able to walk through the plane as it would’ve been when Reagan was president. It was like walking through a time capsule.
There was also an array of vehicles that would’ve been used during Reagan’s presidency.
Finally, we saw the Seal of the President of the United States with the number 13 being prevalent throughout the motif.
Stay tuned for part 2 to see the exhibits and special Star Wars exhibit!
Until then,
A
