The Eventful Trip to London England June 2023

June 3, 2023

Dear Adventure Avenue,

We flew out of John Wayne Airport after spending some time in their lounge. We had great flight attendants who were very nice when we went to talk to them about potentially missing our connection flight. Bad weather in Dallas meant we had to circle above the airport for 15 minutes.

Then we landed and it took forever to get to our gate – Our gate which was of course not next to the gate we needed to get to. As soon as we land, I book it off the train towards the skyline tram that takes you to the correct terminal. They’re supposed to come every 2 minutes- we were waiting for 10. Then we finally get on the tram and make it to the stop before we need to get off and the doors of the tram stop working. They have to have a guy come and manually close it. I’m having flashbacks of getting bumped off our business class seats in France for not being at the gate.

We finally make it to the gate, and No One Has EveN BoaRdeD! Turns out, the flight attendants who were on the flight were also late due to the bad Dallas weather conditions.

We get on the plane, and of my family I’m the first one heading to my seat. I start going to my seat and that’s when we realize I’ve been bumped to the back of business class! Now you may be saying who cares, but wait til you hear this: my ticket was a full paid fair next to my family, a window seat, and close to the front of the plane – I’m talking third or fourth row from the front of the plane. I was now the second to last seat in business class.

Here’s the kicker: it was an American Airlines employee who bumped me! My mom asked her if she’d switch places with me and she very rudely said no. (Sitting closer to the front means you get first choice on food, served first, and a quicker plane exit.) Luckily, I still got the food I wanted on the flight, but it was still not cool that I didn’t get to sit with my family.

Then we land in London, and I go up quickly to join my family at the front of the plane so that we don’t get separated upon exiting and the seat stealer has the audacity to say in a very sorry not sorry tone, “Sorry I wouldn’t switch seats with you”. Let’s just say we were glad to get off the plane and away from the very rude American Airlines employee with terrible customer service and head out into London!

Until tomorrow,

A
