Dear Adventure Avenue,
In February, my aunt took my mom, Oma (my grandma), and me to The Tea House on Los Rios in San Juan Capistrano, California for a lovely afternoon tea. If this place sounds familiar, you may have seen it on The Real Housewives of Orange County, as some in our little group pointed out.

The Tea House is located very close to the San Juan Capistrano train station, but we had driven there. There is no parking at the Tea House, so you could park at the train station, or wherever you can find a lot. My mom did the latter after dropping us off to check into our reservation.
I picked The Mission Tea and got the Queen Catherine Tea. My aunt and my mom did the Victorian Tea. My aunt had the same tea as me, the Queen Catherine, and my mom got the Margaret’s Hope Darjeeling tea, a light floral tea, known as the “champagne of tea”.

My Oma got the quiche, a mimosa flight, and The Tea House Private Reserve which has vanilla notes.
I was worried I wouldn’t like the red currents in the scone, but I loved it!

The next course was soup and salad courses. Mine only came with soup OR salad, so I got the lobster bisque but shared some of my mom’s salad.

The sandwiches were good; pretty typical for tea.
The bathrooms were also very well themed which added to the experience.
By the time dessert rolled around, we were quite full

All in all, I would highly recommend The Tea House on Los Rios!
Until next time,
A
