2023 Goals Update: January

Dear Adventure Avenue,

I have 6 goals this year. Follow along to see my progress throughout the year!

1. Finish my shawl

I started a shawl inspired by Claire’s rent shawl from Outlander.

This is what it looked like at the start of the year:

It now looks like this:

I figured a tape measurer might be useful for showing progress.

2. Read or listen to 23 books

This month I finished listening to Decluttering at the Speed of Life by Dana K. White which was a great decluttering book. I also read Seven by Jen Hatmaker which I also really enjoyed. I also listened to an Agatha Christie’s short story Yellow Iris and Agatha Christie’s They Do It With Mirrors. I found Yellow Iris to be a bit too short, but the latter was great!

I’m currently reading The Rival Queens by Nancy Goldstone and Proust’s Du Côté de chez Swann or Swan’s Way in English. I am also on book three of Outlander, Voyager by Diana Gabaldon and am still loving this series!

3. Read more in French

As a French major, I want to continuously improve my French. My uncle and I are reading Proust’s Du Côté de chez Swann or Swan’s Way in English.

I’m currently reading La Fille de Puisatier (The Well-digger’s Daughter) for school.

I also have a Marie Antoinette book that I picked up when I went to France last year.

4. Practice yoga for 2023 minutes

I like yoga, but sometimes I only have 5 minutes to practice yoga. I don’t feel right counting that one 5-minute practice as one time, so that’s why I decided to make my goal in minutes.

So far this year I have practiced yoga for 341 minutes!

5. Track how many items come in

This goal was inspired by Let’s Live and Learn and how if you “don’t watch what is coming IN, the clutter problem is never ending.” This is particularly pertinent given the fact that I resell on Poshmark.

In January, 28 things came in.

6. Declutter 1000 items

This goal goes with number 5. Less clutter means more time for fun things like reading!

In January, I decluttered 66 items.

What are your goals for the year?

Sincerely,

A
