Dear Adventure Avenue,
In February, my grandpa, mom, and I visited our family in Arizona for the weekend. On our first full day there, we visited the Tucson Gem Show. On our last day, we went to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum which was very interesting! The word museum is a bit of a misnomer because it is more of a zoo than a museum.

Desert Loop Trail
My mom and I went on the Desert Loop trail and saw some more animals as well as enjoyed the desert scenery.
Raptor Free Flight Show
The Raptor Free Flight show was probably my favorite thing at the Desert Museum because it really showed that birds have personalities. (As a chicken owner with a very sassy chicken by the name of Kylo Hen, I knew it was possible, but still cool to see it in real life).
The show lets the birds fly free every day, and it’s their decision when they want to come back inside. I didn’t take any photos of the event because photos were not encouraged due to the fact that they can get in the way of the bird’s flight patterns. Plus, I wanted to really enjoy the show.
We really maximized our time there and were able to see everything before we left for a late lunch at Olive Garden and then headed to the airport to leave for our flight home.
After the Raptor Free Flight Show, we went and had an iced tea in the nearby cafe. It was starting to get hot, which was a little surprising given the previous day had been bitter cold with a biting wind.
My mom and I then explored some of the gardens.
The Otter
They were feeding the otter when we got to the Otter exhibit, so the otter was very active.
After seeing the otter, we went to the reptile and aquatic exhibits before heading out for a late lunch at Olive Garden. We caught our flight back to LAX late that afternoon. It was a short trip, but we got to see a bit of Arizona.
Sincerely,
A
