A Day At Disneyland 2020 Part 2

Dear Adventure Avenues,

Space Mountain was a blast, but my dad and I knew we wanted to check out Disney’s California Adventure before it got too crowded. We figured that California Adventure was a park that less kids visit during the day, so we wanted to go there early to get on all the rides before the lines got to long.

But oh my! I don’t know if it was because of the construction of the new Marvel Land (It’s going in where the Bug’s Life Land was) or if it was because of the beer and wine festival or a combination, but there were so many people there!

We made a beeline to Toy Story Mania where we got a FastPass for between 3 and 4. That was a good time frame for us because it gave us time to accomplish what we wanted to do there.

After getting our FastPass, we went and rode Radiator Springs Racers. It’s similar to Test Track in Disney World’s Epcot.

I really love the Imagineering that went into creating Car’s Land.

After the Car’s ride, we were both pretty hungry so we decided to go to the Pacific Wharf, which is right next to Car’s Land.

My dad got a taco plate at the Mexican place in there. He enjoyed his meal. I went to Boudin. I decided to get the kid’s meal, thinking that it would come on the delicious Boudin bread, but alas it was some healthy wheat bread. It did come with a bottle of water, a drinkable yogurt, and a tangerine.

I may have also ordered the smaller sized meal because I wanted to save room for a Ghirardelli dessert šŸ˜‰

I ordered a single scoop of chocolate chip cookie dough after I heard my dad order a triple scoop sundae with a chocolate chip cookie crumble. I knew there was no way he could finish that (unless he had help of course:))

The ice cream was delicious! I helped my dad finish the chocolate ice cream. He got chocolate and coffee but I don’t really like coffee so I left that for him.

We were both pretty full from our meal (okay it was the dessert that filled us up), so we decided to go on Soarin’. It just so happened that it was Soarin’ Over California.

It was hot outside as we were waiting in the queue outside of the hangar, but the water misters really helped keep us cool.

Once we got in the hangar, the line moved pretty quickly. We both agreed that Soarin’ Over the World has better scene transitions, but the nostalgia of the California version makes it worth it.

After Soarin’ we went to Goofy’s Flight School. We were waiting in the single rider line, when we here there is a situation.

Apparently there is something on the tracks. This means that they have to stop all the cars, so that the item can be retrieved. Now, we’re thinking that a pair of sunglasses or a hat or a pair of Mickey ears that accidentally fell off someone’s head.

But no…

It was a backpack. And it was dropped on the part of the ride that takes you up. How someone could drop their backpack on the tracks is a question I am still pondering. I always wrap the straps around my legs so I won’t lose my backpack or purse, but apparently that isn’t the case for everyone.

So my dad really wanted to go on the Incredicoaster, formerly known as California Screamin’. I unfortunately have a very bad memory of going on this ride as a child. Let me just say, I was small, gravity pushed me down, and I wasn’t in the picture. That said, my dad loved it.

While he went on that, I went on these two rides. They both had no wait and gave a beautiful view of the water.

After my dad and I met back up, we went on the Little Mermaid ride. It’s super cute. I don’t remember ever going on it before, so that was cool to get to do it. I definitely recommend this ride if the line is short and you want to cool off and have a little break.

Then I convinced my dad to do something he didn’t really want to do: The Animation Academy. While we were waiting in line to go in, we got to listen to some Disney music. My personal favorite was when they played Let it Go.

Before you begin, they give you a blank piece of paper that you will do your drawing on. Then they let you know what you’re going to be learning. My class was learning how to draw Tigger.

Above is how mine turned out. I think it turned out pretty good.

After we finished up drawing, our Toy Story Mania FastPass was ready for us to use. My dad and I both love this ride because of the interactivity aspect of it.

I was the yellow player. (Also the one with the higher score). I use the spray method which works really well on certain levels like the dish breaking one. The spray method means that I just shoot as fast as I can in an area that has a lot of possible targets in the hopes that I will hit many of them.

After we rode Toy Story Mania, I got an exciting notification on my phone from the Disneyland app. It was time for us to board Rise of the Resistance!

With that exciting information we headed back over to Disneyland!

Stay tuned,

A
