Dear Adventure Avenue,
We got up early and got ready to leave for the airport. I had my chocolate croissant from Pauls that I got yesterday.
The hotel called us a taxi and we jetted off to the airport. (Our cab driver was quite speedy). Luckily, not all the roads were closed yet for the Paris marathon. They were starting to close the roads, but we made it through and on our way. Our taxi driver took us to the wrong terminal but realized it and took us to our actual terminal.
Once we made it into the terminal, we went through security and found the Extime lounge as the American lounge was in a different terminal and closed. We enjoyed the goodies in the lounge and then made our way to our gate. We boarded with no problems and were thinking we were about to take off when the captain comes on and says we have an hour delay because the control tower was short staffed.
This meant that we were going to miss our connecting flight in New York, so Mere called American as we were sitting there to rebook our flight because we did not want to lose our business class tickets AGAIN. She got us confirmed on the 7:30 flight (compared to the 4pm flight we were supposed to be on).
This meant we did not have to stress when we landed, and we even got to go to the New York lounge.
We boarded our flight and found that we even had lay down bed seats in business class! We were again ready to depart when the captain comes on and says, “We have a small maintenance issue that is being resolved – it’s really just a paperwork issue at this point, but we’re going to be delayed 15-20 minutes.” My heart sank as he spoke – Could we not get one flight with no problems?”
It turned out that it was fixed closer to 15 minutes and we were able to take off – during a storm. I saw lightning hit the ground. The first hour of the flight was a bit bumpy, but we made it home safely!
It was an eventful trip, but we had a great time – despite all the travel mishaps.
