Day 3: South of France 2019

Day 3

June 24, 2019

Dear Adventure Avenue,

Today started out pretty early for us because we had a tour to go on! After our hotel buffet breakfast, we went downstairs and got picked up by our tour guide.

Our first stop was the quaint little village of Mougins. I loved how quiet it was there. Mougins is apparently where Pablo Picasso lived until his death, but there wasn’t much about him there. As we walked around I spied a little shop that was selling soaps, so I bought a bar of lavender soap and a bar of almond soap. We also had quite a fun experience with a self cleaning bathroom.

A small alley in Mougins

Then we went to Grasse to a perfume factory called, Fragonard. It was so interesting to see how perfumes get made. I was surprised that the smell didn’t bother me at all because normally I’m very sensitive to that sort of thing. Apparently this brand of perfume is known for not causing headaches.

We got to see the science behind the Fragonard perfume

After that we went to Moulin d’Opio. It was an olive oil mill. We were shown how olive oil is made now and how it was made in the past. Then we sampled a bunch of different oils. My favorite was the lemon olive oil.

Then we went up into the hills to the village of Gourdon. Queen Victoria visited this village when she was queen. It was also very quiet, but it had an amazing view of the French Riviera.

On our way to Tourrettes-sur-Loup (our final stop) we visited a very small patch of lavender and looked down into the canyon. After that we stopped and saw these magnificent waterfalls. The water was so clear.

At Tourrettes-sur-Loup, we walked around the little village and got ice cream at Tom’s. I had violet ice cream which tasted like watermelon.

We went back to the hotel and went out to dinner at a little cafe. I had a delightful crepe with cheese and ham.

We had drinks on the first floor and I had virgin pina colada again.

Until tomorrow,

A from Nice
