Day 5: South of France 2019

Day 5

June 26, 2019

Dear Adventure Avenue,

We ate at the hotel’s buffet for breakfast. It was a decent spread with eggs, sausage, bacon, fruits, cereals, and pastries.

After breakfast we took a taxi to Eze and toured the village. It was very hot and there were so many stairs. We saw the small cathedral and the cemetery. The cathedral is in a bit of disrepair, but is filled with so much art.

We also went into the Exotic Garden which had a lovely view of the sea. There were lots of cacti. I enjoyed reading all the little plaques about the history and types of plants. There were also a couple water features that we saw along one of the paths.

Statues like this littered the path.

After we finished the tour of the garden we were all hot, sweaty, and tired, so we went down to a cafe called Le Cactus. I had a lemon and sugar crêpe which was very refreshing.

After this quick bite to eat we continued down the hill where we stopped at a few shops and I picked up souvenirs. Then we went to the tourist center to ask them to call us a cab.

When we arrived back at our hotel we showered and rested before going out to get ice cream at Abacaxi. I had the pistachio, my mom mint chip, and my grand-mère had vanilla. My favorite flavor there has been the coconut. We bought water at a gift shop between the ice cream place and the hotel.

We then went down to the hotel bar to get some drinks. I just had water. Then we walked over to Mayssa for dinner.

The bread they brought out was fresh from the oven and it was so warm and tasted so good with balsamic vinegar. For appetizers we had tomatoes with mozzarella and scallops with truffles. Oh my gosh! The mozzarella was so fresh and the truffles went so well with the scallops.

Camerone

I had the Camerone which was giant scampi. It was like eating a lobster and shrimp combination. The steak that my mom got was a little too well done for my liking, but Grand-mères pork chops were really good. They had a nice flavor.

After that dinner my mom and I headed up to our room to pack up our stuff.

Until tomorrow,

A from Villefranche
