Dear Adventure Avenue,
After our buffet hotel breakfast, we booked an Uber and headed to Windsor Castle.
I had pre ordered tickets for 9:30am which turned out to be perfect. The actual castle doesn’t open until 10, but they start the process of letting you in at 9:30.
This meant we had the castle almost all to ourselves during those first 15 minutes as we were at the front of the entry line.
We waited in the line to see Queen Mary’s dollhouse before going to the apartments. The dollhouse was incredible. It was so big and to scale. We weren’t able to take any pictures inside.
After the Dollhouse we wandered through the rooms and looked at the art. My brother found the Waterloo room particularly interesting as it had all the men who served at the Concert of Europe.
After exploring all the rooms we headed to the church. What a time to be in England with Queen Elizabeth II’s passing and the coronation. I bring it up because as we were walking through the church, we passed by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip’s grave.
Despite its massive size, Windsor castle only took us about 2 hours starting when we arrived at 9 to wait to be let in.
We had lunch around noon at a place just down the street called Long Walk Grill & Bar. My mom and I split a salad and a delicious mushroom and chicken pasta in a cream sauce.
After lunch, we took an Uber back to the hotel and packed up our stuff before heading to Selfridges to meet my aunt at the rooftop restaurant and bar for drinks.
It was very nice up there with a flower walkway to get in. I had a Virgin mojito.
After finishing up there, we took a double decker bus to the British Library/Museum to see the Rosetta Stone and some Greek statues.
After dinner, we spotted a Sainsbury’s which is a British grocery store and stopped there to pick up some gifts and other treats before taking the underground home.
Once there, we finished up our last minute packing and went to sleep.
The next morning we headed home to LAX. Unfortunately, we missed our connection due to sitting on the tarmac for 3 hours in London, but we were able to take a later flight home.
Until next time,
A
