Dear Adventure Avenue,
Sometimes I think I am like the Mouse from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. For example, I bought a 101 Dalmatian dress from BoxLunch to wear to Disneyland, but then I realized I needed a hat to go with it. I could not for the life of me find a (affordable) 101 Dalmatian official hat, so I decided to make one! In the process of making that hat, I had to buy a bundle of dog patches and in there was a Labrador Retriever patch. I knew I would also need to make that one into a hat too because Cassie is a Lab!

Here is my quick and easy tutorial on how to make a cute dog hat with patches!
Materials:
- Plain cotton hat (I used a Time and Tru hat from Walmart (not affiliate), but something like this on Amazon would also work (affiliate link which means clicking this helps support my posts – even if you don’t purchase this exact item!))
- Some sort of thin cotton/natural fiber dish cloth (your iron will be directly on this)
- A thicker hand towel
- PATCHES – I used these and they are so cute!! (affiliate link)
- Iron
- Ironing board

Step by Step Instructions
- Wash your new hat
- Roll up your hand towel and stuff it into your hat so that the area where you will be applying the patch is relatively flat and smooth.

3. After the hat is relatively smooth, position your patch how you’d like it.
4. Gently place your thin towel (I used a washcloth) over the patch that is now on the hat.
5. Apply high heat (mine was between 5 and 6 on my iron) for about 45 seconds. You should start to see the patch affix itself to the hat.
6. Remove the towel from inside the hat and apply some heat from inside the hat for about 30-45 seconds.

Your patch should now be thoroughly affixed to your hat and you are the proud owner of a cute dog hat!

Leave a comment below with what dog you decided to use for your DIY Dog hat!
Until next time,
A
