This book is an inspiring read – especially if you are a Disney or Star Wars fan. I have read this book, It’s Your Universe: You have the power to make it happen by Ashley Eckstein, many times and it is one of my favorite books. In fact, I’ve been awarded two college scholarships by talking about the impact this book has had on my life.
About the Author
Ashley Eckstein is probably most known in the Star Wars fandom as the actress voicing Ahsoka Tano in The Clone Wars, but she is also an entrepreneur. When she started going to fandom conventions, she wanted to express her Star Wars fandom, but she couldn’t find women’s Star Wars-wear anywhere. Throughout the book, she explains how she went about creating Her Universe to correct the lack of female fandom-wear.
What’s the Book About?
Ashley Eckstein tells of the challenges she faced to achieve her dreams, but perhaps more importantly she explains how to make that dream a reality. She does this through the use of Disney quotes, real-life examples, and storytelling.
This book by Ashley Eckstein inspired me the first time I read it a couple years ago and continues to inspire me today. Through it I learned about her entrepreneurial expedition where she was told “no” many times when following her dream of creating the first fangirl clothing line. It taught me that I may be told “no” any number of times, but with perseverance, I too can achieve my dreams.
