Maui 2019 Day 1

Day 1

July 10, 2019

Dear Adventure Avenue,

My mom, dad, brother, and I drove to LAX early this morning to catch our flight to Maui. Security was surprisingly simple and fast. We shared a breakfast bagel sandwich from Farmers Market. We wanted to get cream cheese bagels but they surprisingly didn’t have those. The breakfast bagel was actually pretty good. It had ham, cheese, and egg.

There was only one problem with our flight to Maui and it was a person sitting in front of us. There was a very rude guy sitting in front of us who could not sit still or stay quiet for very long. Thank goodness for Captain Marvel and episodes of Friends to provide a distraction.

When we arrived in Maui, my mom, brother, and I went to pick up our luggage from baggage claim while my dad got the car. After acquiring our luggage, we took the tram over to the rental cars. The tram was new to us and much more efficient than the previous method of busing people to the rental car places.

After getting the car we headed to the nearby Costco to pick up some food to have in the room for breakfast and snacks. We all ate pizza for lunch and my brother and I got ice-cream.

There were lots of birds around. I saw a rooster, a hen, and lots of little sparrows.

The drive to our hotel, the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas, took a little over an hour. We drove on the new (to us) road which is not on the water.

We checked into our hotel and got the keys to our room– 4411.

After settling in for a little while, we all went down to the beach and then the pool. The water felt really nice- not cold at all.

For dinner we ordered takeout from the pool bar. My brother and I decided to walk back to the room while our parents waited for the food.

Unfortunately for us, we were given the wrong key. (We were given the key to the visitor’s lounge.) My brother and I had the brilliant idea to walk all the way back to our parents and get another key after we couldn’t get in.

After all the walking and swimming, my chicken tenders and pineapple slices tasted really good.

Until tomorrow,

A

From Maui
