Dear Adventure Avenue,
The day started early as we piled into the car and headed to the airport. Traffic was minimal getting to the Parking Spot where our car would wait for us on our return; however, once we were on the bus and near the airport, there was a lot of traffic – more, I dare say, than before COVID times. I’m sure this was due, in part, to all the construction going on at LAX.
Once inside Hawaiian airlines, we were able to tag team it to check our one suitcase and get the all mighty Wristband! This wristband is a LIFESAVER.
THE ALL MIGHTY WRISTBAND
Upon arriving at the Honolulu airport, we were able to avoid a 2 or 3 hour line to be cleared using the the travel Hawaii website and questionnaire one must fill out 24 hours before arrival AND the negative COVID-19 test taken 72 hours before your flight takes off.
Hertz
While my dad and brother waited for our checked bag, my mom and I went and picked up our car at Hertz. Lucky for us, there was no line! The lady at the desk handed us our keys and pointed us in the direction of our car. (Note from Future A: This was probably one of the only times where there wasn’t a line).
We went and picked up the boys and then started driving towards our hotel. We stopped at a McDonalds to refuel before driving to the hotel.
Hilton Hawaiian Village – Lagoon Tower
First we went into the lagoon because there were less people in it – only to discover that the reason people were most likely not in it: The water was cold. Then we went to the pool which surprisingly wasn’t suffering from water displacement given all the people in it. We went down the ONE (baby) slide that was open and then decided it was best if we went back up to the room and got ready for dinner.
Dinner at Tropics
We had a great waiter at Tropics. He was super nice and brought out a bunch of different sauces to try with the coconut shrimp that my mom ordered. I got the burger loaded with all sorts of goodness on it. My dad got some sort of fish, and my brother, unsurprisingly, got chicken tenders. I also got a delicious virgin pina colada!
After Dinner
We headed back up to the room where we enjoyed (or rather didn’t enjoy) the loud sound of the Luau reverberating off our windows until 8pm. Soon after, we went to sleep until our next adventure in the morning.
Until Tomorrow,
A
