Paris January 2024: Metro Exposition + Galeries Lafayette Day 5

Day 5 January 3, 2024

Dear Adventure Avenue,

I slept in today until 8:15 today and met my dad for breakfast up in the club level. We went up again with my brother at 9:30 before heading out to the Cite de l’architecture. We took the Metro there and had to make one change.

The Metro Exposition there is a special exhibit that was really cool! It started with the history of the metro and then talked about and showed models of future Metro stations that will connect the suburbs (and airport) to central Paris.

We almost went to the Marine Museum nextdoor but turned out it wasn’t what my dad and brother thought it was and my dad didn’t want to pay. (My brother and I could’ve probably gotten in for free if my French was very good).

On the way back from the exhibit (we walked), we stopped at a Boulangerie where I ordered us sandwiches and my dad one of his beloved Napoleons- though called a Mille feuille in France.

We got back to the hotel and it’s just started raining when we rushed inside the mall attached to our hotel. We went up to our rooms and then met up with Mom and Mere in Mere’s room.

After I ate my sandwich, Mom, Mere, and I took a taxi to Galeries Lafayette. Our Taxi driver almost ran into someone, proceeded to yell at them asking “why didn’t you go” (he couldn’t) and “you’re lucky I didn’t hit you” (in French).

At Galeries Lafayette, we went shopping! I found some very cute things by Zadig and Voltaire. We got a pretty good deal thanks to the year end sale (which we got by signing up to their rewards program).

After shopping, we took the metro to Notre Dame to see the building process.

We were able to get a lot closer this time.

We stopped at an ice cream cafe and got salted caramel butter ice cream and dark chocolate ice cream with Chantilly cream on top.

Then we wandered into a couple of shops and actually bought some little mints which are supposed to help with digestion from a small candy store.

Then we went to L’îlot Vache for dinner. I had the scallops in Brioche, Mère had the filet with hollandaise, and mom had the biscuit wrapped steak. It was enjoyable.

Then we Ubered back to the hotel and everyone went up for drinks in the club. I love that they have pots available and I can make myself a pot of tea.

They kicked us out of the lounge at closing and we headed back to our rooms to get ready for bed.

Until tomorrow,

A
