Santa Barbara, California Mini-Vacation 2020 Day 1

This post is part of a three day vacation series as written by moi in Santa Barbara, California.

Dear Adventure Avenue,

My family left our house to pick up Mere (my grandma) to go to Santa Barbara. Mere booked my family and her a room at the Santa Barbara Ritz Carlton!!! Needless to say I was excited!

After a rather long, traffic filled ride we arrived at the pier where we drove on and ate lunch at The Harbor Restaurant. I enjoyed a delicious Lobster roll and one of Mere’s oysters. My mom ordered a very filling steak sandwich. My brother ate chicken tenders, and my dad had the same as me, a lobster roll.

Delicious
I was almost blessed by a squirt of seagull dropping. Instead I ended up with a speckle on my jeans and a little puddle before my eyes.
I love those flowers!

We then drove off the pier and headed to our hotel and home for the next couple of days. Stay tuned for my hotel and room tour!

We rested in the hotel room. I read a new book that Mere gave me to read over the trip. It’s called Nine Women, One Dress. I’m already a fourth of the way done! It’s really good! (Update from future A: I finished it and I highly recommend!)

Downtown Santa Barbara

We headed downtown to grab a quick dinner before going on our ghost tour. There were some beautiful light displays set up, ready for the holidays.

Pretty lights!

Dinner at the Habit

As we were walking down Central Street, we didn’t see many places where we wanted to eat. Then we spotted a Habit and thought that was good enough to satisfy our slight hunger!

Yes, I got the Kids meal with everyone’s applesauce. I love applesauce! 🙂

Ghost tour

I really enjoyed the ghost tour! We learned a little bit about the history of the part of Santa Barbara we were in. Hint: There were some Houses of Ill Repute.

Perhaps the most exciting thing was that my mom actually caught some spirits on camera! Now if you’re not a believer, that’s okay, but my mom and I were taking pictures in the same place just a couple a minutes apart from each other. It’s pretty cool!

Is that a female ghost in the adobe?

Someone captured someone’s eyes peering at us though we admitted later that those eyes looked a bit fake to us. It was in the adobe that’s the second oldest building in California accounting to our guide. (San Juan Capistrano mission is the oldest).

They saw the eye in this adobe next to the Post Office
Another stop on the ghost tour: El Presidio de Santa Barbara!
Are those ghost hands in the top left corner?
Across the street from the post office, there’s a burial ground in there.

After we saw this burial ground, we headed back to the hotel. It was a late night, and we were glad to arrive back at the hotel.

Until tomorrow,

From Santa Barbara
