Throwback Thursday: Boston 2018: Day 4

This will be part of a Throwback Thursday series from when my family and I went to Boston and Salem between June 27, 2018 and July 3, 2018. As it is a trip from before I created my blog, there will most likely be less pictures than usual on some days. Nevertheless, I think Boston and Salem are both places full of adventures, and I’d like to share mine with you. Enjoy! 🙂

Day 4 June 30, 2018

Dear Adventure Avenue,

The whole family got up at nine and went to the buffet breakfast in the lobby. I was very excited for today! We were going to the Boston Tea Party Museum!

Boston Tea Party Museum

We took an Uber over to the Museum and bought our tickets and waited for the experience to begin!

We entered a room with a big group of people and were each assigned a role card and given a feather. We were in a town hall meeting. Here, we learned how to say HUZZAH when happy and FIE with our hand to our nose to say we disliked something very much. The feathers were for our disguise because we didn’t want to be spotted or recognized as we were dumping tea into the river.

Then we headed down to where the ship was. We were able to throw a box of tea overboard and explore the ship. We heard different tales of different people who were involved with the Boston Tea Party. For example, there was this one guy who they thought died, but it turned out he just had a concussion.

We went into the museum and saw this box that was passed down for generations. The box was from one of the ships they had dumped tea off of. (I got a small replica of said box full of teas). There were also talking pictures and a movie. It was really an incredible interactive experience. If I could do only one thing in Boston, that would be my choice.

For lunch we went to Abigail’s Tea Room. I had a turkey sandwich and an unlimited tea cup. There were five different teas to try. Congou, Singlo, and Young Hyson green teas were my favorites.

The Bohea black tea was just okay, and the Souchong tasted like smoke (I didn’t like that one).

Finishing the Freedom Trail

After our lunch, we Ubered over to the USS Constitution to continue on the Freedom Trail. It’s a sailboat looking ship that’s actually still commissioned in the navy. There was also a WWII ship that we boarded.

We continued on to Bunker Hill. It was hot so we were unable to climb the monument. Instead, we just walked around it. There was a weapons demonstration that we listened to and then got to watch the gun being shot.

Near the Boston Commons

Then we took an Uber to the Cheers bar sign. Then we walked through the Boston Common Park. We saw the Frog Pond which is just a big shallow pool for kids to play in.

For dinner, we went to Luke’s Lobster. My mom and I split the Luke’s special ($20) which was part lobster, crab, and shrimp sandwich. My dad got the same thing. It was really good! My brother ended up getting a hot dog from Tasty Burger.

Near Our Hotel

We Ubered home to the Residence Inn by Marriott Boston Back Bay/Fenway and ended up getting ice cream at Emack and Bolio’s. I got cake batter and it was so rich and delicious!! My dad got Espresso and Beantown Crunch and my mom got Chocolate Addiction. They both liked their choices too.

Back at the hotel, we ended the night by watching National Treasure, as it seemed like a fitting end to a history filled day.

Signing off, until tomorrow,

A
