2023 Goals Update: February

Dear Adventure Avenue,

I have 6 goals this year. Follow along to see my progress throughout the year!

1. Finish my shawl

I started a shawl inspired by Claire’s rent shawl from Outlander.

It’s this shawl, but I only had brown yarn and my knitting skills are not at the multiple color level. Picture source and pattern for more experienced knitters here.

This is what it looked like at the start of the year:

January, it looked like this:

I figured a tape measurer might be useful for showing progress.

It now looks like this:

It’s about 27 inches now!

2. Read or listen to 23 books

  1. Decluttering at the Speed of Life by Dana K. White
  2. Seven by Jen Hatmaker
  3. Agatha Christie’s They Do It With Mirrors

I finished listening to The Sum of Small Things by Elizabeth Currid-Halkett. I found it to be just okay as it was a eat the meat and spit out the bones sort of book for me. I finished book three of Outlander, Voyager by Diana Gabaldon and am still loving this series! I also finished listening to For the Love by Jen Hatmaker.

I’m currently reading The Rival Queens by Nancy Goldstone and am close to finishing this one! I started the fourth Outlander, Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon. I am also reading Consumed by Aja Barber and am finding it just okay as it seems to be more focused on shaming than finding solutions thus far. I’m also currently reading La Fille de Puisatier (The Well-digger’s Daughterfor school.

3. Read more in French

As a French major, I want to continuously improve my French.

I’m currently reading La Fille de Puisatier (The Well-digger’s Daughterfor school.

I also have a Marie Antoinette book that I picked up when I went to France last year.

4. Practice yoga for 2023 minutes

I like yoga, but sometimes I only have 5 minutes to practice yoga. I don’t feel right counting that one 5-minute practice as one time, so that’s why I decided to make my goal in minutes.

In January, I practiced 341 minutes.

In February, I practiced 82 minutes.

So far this year I have practiced yoga for 423 minutes!

5. Track how many items come in

This goal was inspired by Let’s Live and Learn and how if you “don’t watch what is coming IN, the clutter problem is never ending.” This is particularly pertinent given the fact that I resell on Poshmark.

In January, 28 things came in.

In February, 47 things came in.

In total, 75 things have come in.

6. Declutter 1000 items

This goal goes with number 5. Less clutter means more time for fun things like reading!

In January, I decluttered 66 items.

In February, I decluttered 34 items.

In total, I’ve decluttered 100 items!

What are your goals for the year?

Sincerely,

A
