A Day At Disneyland 2020 Part 3

In case you missed them, here are the first and second parts of this story.

February 28, 2020

Dear Adventure Avenue,

After we received our Boarding Pass for Rise of the Resistance in California Adventure around 4, we headed back over to Disneyland.

Before going into Star Wars land, we stopped at Big Thunder Mountain to get some Fastpasses. The return time on them was for 7:35.

We got in line for Rise of the Resistance. It was a shorter wait than when we were in Florida; however, there was still a wait. I didn’t care though. The inside part of the line is themed so it’s cool to look at all the Star Wars themed stuff.

My dad and I thought the visual effects were better in this version than the one in Florida, but other than that it is the same. I walked off of it in awe, wishing I could go on it again.

After that we went on Pirates of the Caribbean.

Haunted Mansion was closed for refurbishments.

Then we tried to do single rider on Indiana Jones. They sometimes let you do it where you ask them at the desk. Then they’d give you a card and instructions to go through the exit. Since single rider was not an option, we decided to wait in the standby line.

We got all the way inside where they show the movie when all the lights went on. That was a first for me. I’d never been in there without the lights on. (It looks pretty much the same.)

We decided to wait. We probably waited for 20 minutes and then it came back on. It worked out because a lot of people left so we moved up in line when the ride wasn’t even working.

I highly recommend doing the Jungle Cruise at night. I think it really adds to the experience, especially if you’ve been on it a lot. It adds a bit of surpirse because you can’t see everything until you’re right up next to it.

After Jungle Cruise we were hungry for dinner so we went to Galaxy’s Edge to try some Star War’s themed food. We ended up at Ronto Roasters. We got these wraps which had 3 types of meat in them and a slaw in them. It was delicious! I would get it again.

After dinner we were going to use our FastPass for Big Thunder Mountain, but the ride had been broken down for a few hours that day so everyone was trying to use their FastPass. We decided to go do Smuggler’s Run first and then do Big Thunder.

SPOILERS FOR SMUGGLER’S RUN

While we waited in line, I tried out the Play Disney app and completed some quests for Hondo. It’s a good thing if you’re bored in line.

Hondo wasn’t there today to welcome you before you got your flight assignment.

My dad and I were pilots. I got to be the right pilot, so I got to pull the hyperspace level. I like being the other pilot better because the right pilot does the up and down, and it’s weird to move. The left hand pilot goes right and left, and they do the boosters.

There ended up being only one other person in our flight, and he was the gunner. It probably worked out better for us because it meant that the ship auto repaired. (And I crashed a lot!) But we still got two crates, so we didn’t completely fail.

After Smuggler’s Run we went on Big Thunder Mountain. That is another ride that is fun to do at night for two reasons. The first is the dark makes the twists and turns less predictable, and the second is that it looks so cool. The mineshaft part is the best part at night.

To end the night, we went on Small World.

As we were leaving, we caught the start of the fireworks show.

All in all it was a really great day!

Until Next Time,

A
