Capital Hilton in Washington D.C. Hotel and Room Tour

Dear Adventure Avenues,

During our Washington D.C. Historical Adventure, we stayed at the Capital Hilton in Washington D.C. It is close to the White House (about a 10-minute flat walk) and about a 20-minute walk from the National Mall where all the museums and monuments are.

The bar was to the left of this photo, as well as a little gift shop located next to the blue sign. To the right was the front desk and all the way down and to the left were the elevators.
I found this elevator panel to be an interesting design.

We had a bit of a room situation upon arriving at the hotel late at night.

The Junior Suite

The first room was a little snug despite it being a sort of “Suite” – albeit a Junior Suite. The room was L shaped, but a chunk of the L was missing in place of a bulky window (I believe that is where the heater was hiding). If one were to undo the sofa bed, there would be no way to exit the room without climbing over the bed.

The next issue had to do with the fact that the beds didn’t look like Queens, but rather, they appeared to be doubles. The room was supposed to come with two queens.

The front room was to the right of this picture – Somehow, I didn’t take a picture of that first room.

Now the room did have a better bathroom than our next room, as well as a second sink in the front room, but the space (and having Queen sized beds) was worth the trade-off for our family of four.

This picture does a better job of showing how small the beds were. The bathroom is to the right of this photo.

2 Queen Deluxe Suite with a sofa couch

The two Queen Deluxe Suite with a sofa couch was much better! I think the only complaint about the room was that the TV wasn’t angled in way that made viewing easy. (This comes from the people who brought the Amazon Fire Stick – We have this one (affiliate link)).

Much bigger beds!
Ill-positioned TV

This room had a desk and a sofa couch. We used the desk chair as one of the dumping grounds for our winter coats. This was also a corner room!

View from our window. Down this street is the White House.

The Facilities

This was the tiny bathroom.

The shower-bathtub was located to the left, and you can see the rest as it is on the smaller side.

The Gym

Now, I normally don’t go anywhere near the gym whilst on vacation (or at home for that matter – Yay Peloton!), and that’s due to the fact that we usually walk a lot or are swimming all day. But we did go visit the gym because we learned they had FREE cold water which we promptly took advantage of to refill our water bottles.

The holy grail was this cold-water dispenser!

In-Hotel Restaurant: North Gate Grill

We enjoyed breakfast at this restaurant twice with our favorite server, Nancy. The egg sandwich was one of the least expensive things on the menu. The second day I got eggs, toast, potatoes, and a little salad. Both were delicious!

This is my favorite hotel breakfast – give me eggs, a stack of toast, and potatoes, and I am in my Happy Place!
