At the end of March, I went on a trip to Paris, France and documented how I had the best French vacation! Follow along on my day-to-day adventures in Paris!
Dear Adventure Avenue,
We started the day sleeping in and relaxing before heading to Le Royal, a nearby cafe for breakfast and the same one we went to lunch at yesterday. Everyone got the Royal which included fresh squeezed orange juice, a hot beverage (tea to go round!), baguette and a croissant, and a choice of fried eggs or an omelet. The three ladies had the omelet. That breakfast was huge! We weren’t hungry the rest of the day. I did try the coffee, but it was too strong for me.
My mom and I had planned to go to Sainte Chapelle this morning, so we took the metro to Cité only to find out that one needs tickets to see Sainte Chapelle. Whoops! There was a police blockade, so we couldn’t ever go up to it, but we saw the steeple!
We walked over to a Place Dauphine which was nearby as one of my French professors had recommended it. It was a peaceful little triangle of trees and benches. We took advantage of this as we planned our next steps.
We decided to walk and look for a little olive oil shop. On the way there, we passed the Bouquinistes of Paris, but today they were closed.
My mom found an olive oil place called Tomat’s Épicerie Fine that was close enough for us to walk and thank goodness she did because it was wonderful – so wonderful, that I am dedicating an entire blog post to it!
We walked back to the hotel after and went to the Franprix nearby. I wanted to get some fruit to eat and found a delicious apple that’s similar to a pear called a Canada apple.
After munching on our snacks, the four of us went to Les Champs-Élysées and to see the Arc de Triomphe. I was not a fan of standing in the middle of the street to take photos as it seemed unsafe, but to each their own. There were many people doing it.
We went to Jeff de Bruges for hot chocolate. It was better than the one I had last night at the hotel. After buying hot chocolate, my mom and grand-mère got some chocolates to take home.
We then went to the LaCoste store as my grand-mere needed to buy shirts for someone and we picked out something for my brother as well.
That night we went to café Louise and had a great French dinner. I enjoyed the ratatouille with two poached eggs on top. I’d actually never had ratatouille before. My mom had the lasagna, grand-mère le coq au vin, and our friend, escargot and lobster bisque.
Tired, we headed back to the hotel to sleep until the next day.
Until Tomorrow,
A
