My Money-Making Poshmark Adventure

Dear Adventure Avenue,

Today we will be going down the fashion and money making avenues. A while ago, I posted about the 5 best money making apps (link here), but I wasn’t sure about Poshmark yet. Now I am ready to tell you all about it!

First of all, what exactly is Poshmark? Poshmark is a reselling platform – similar to EBay – but primarily focuses on selling clothes and accessories. Although I do sometimes put up non clothes items on the off chance they might sell. Some have, some haven’t yet.

Pro

It’s a great way to earn a little extra cash and declutter at the same time.

Con

It’s a little like If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. If you sell a certain number of items and do a couple other things, you become a Posh Ambassador. When you become a Posh Ambassador, you want to list more items so you make sure you keep a minimum of 50 items in your closet. But to have 50 plus items means you have to store those items. Somewhat defeating the decluttering.

With that said, the Poshmark experience is a PRO for me as a business major concentrating in marketing. The selling skills and customer service experience I’ve earned through this Poshmark adventure has been invaluable. It’s a hands-on experience, but you do have to hustle.

In order for your items to be seen at the top of the feed, they have to be shared daily – if not multiple times a day.

Is that a bad thing?

Con – it can take time if you’re busy and/or forget to do it, but…

Pro – You have the power to promote yourself within the app.

I did start a separate Instagram account: @asposhadventure to go with my Poshmark account. This isn’t a necessary step, but I wanted the account to be separate from my main blogging account – similarly to my (mainly dog) animal page: @asanimalsadventure.

Moving on,

My favorite thing about Poshmark – especially when compared to EBay – is that they handle the shipping. All I have to do is print a label, stick it on my packaged item, and drop off the box at the Post Office.

Summary

Poshmark is a great way to make a little extra cash off some of your [nice] clothes that you no longer want. It can also be a great place to shop second hand if you’re into that. Use my code asposhadventure to get $10 when you sign up!

Happy Fashion Friday!
