Oahu Hawaiian Vacation 2021 Day 5 – A Daily Log

July 3, 2021

Dear Adventure Avenue,

We started our morning out at Cinnamon’s again over at the Ilikai. This time we ate outside on the patio. My brother and I split pancakes and eggs. (Well I ate the eggs and some pancakes). It was delicious.

Dole Plantation

Our plan was to get to the Dole Plantation early (think opening time or earlier) so we didn’t have to wait in super long lines. When we arrived, there was already a line to buy tickets and get on the train. My mom and I waited in line for the tickets while my brother and dad stood in line for the train.

By the time we got the tickets, my dad and brother were near the front of the line. We ended up getting on the second train.

There was a slight mist/heavy mist throughout our morning at the plantation. I loved it! It was so much better than being hot!

After we did the train, we went into the general store (there wasn’t a line yet to get in the store thankfully). Once in the store, we waited in a short line to get a Dole Whip, a cup of pineapple, and a hot dog for my brother. The Dole Whip and pineapple were delicious. There was so much pineapple in the cup that I took it back to the hotel to eat it with my lunch – more on that later in the post.

After enjoying our pineapple treats (or hot dog in my brother’s case), we did the maze. The maze was a cool activity to do – though I don’t think we would have enjoyed it as much had it been hot. The misty rainy weather was perfect for the maze.

Green World Coffee Farm

On our way back to the hotel we passed the Green World Coffee Farm. We stopped to check it out. My dad ended up getting a coffee shake of some kind. We were able to try different coffees and teas while we waited for the shake to be made.

Lunch leftovers

For lunch I had a great meal: Rocky fried rice with the Dole pineapple. It was DIVINE.

Chart House

We relaxed in the room before it was time to do something about dinner. We didn’t have a reservation anywhere, so we decided to go to the Chart House at 4pm. We were able to be seated but only in the bar area that hadn’t seen any updates since 1975. Nevertheless, my mom and I enjoyed our garlic butter shrimp. My dad got the steak. Both our meals came with salad and a dessert.

By the time dessert rolled around, we were stuffed, but managed to have a couple bites of Crème brûlée, key lime pie, and my brother’s pineapple sorbet. (He (of course) got the chicken nuggets).

Geocache

After dinner, my dad, brother, and I went hunting for a Geocache near the docks. We were struggling to find it until two older men – boat owners by the looks of them – came to help. One was just curious, while the other actually knew where to look. We probably never would have found it.

We headed back to the hotel, past where I saw a dead rat (huge – not pleasant), and then went to sleep. For the next day we were returning to California.

Until Tomorrow,

A
