Poulet aux Tomates – An Easy French Recipe with Chicken and Tomatoes

Dear Adventure Avenues,

Are you craving a French inspired meal with a simplicity that doesn’t usually come with a French dish? Well, I have the perfect recipe for you: Poulet aux Tomates or for my non French speakers – Chicken and Tomatoes!

My grand-mère shared this recipe with me. She learned this recipe when she visited some French exchange students in France. It’s almost like a stew – one might consider it “peasant food” for its simple directions, but filling and satisfying results.

Ingredients

  • 4 Chicken Thighs
  • 1.5 cups flour
  • Tarragon
  • Black Pepper (ground)
  • Salt
  • 6 medium sized tomatoes
  • Olive oil

Steps and Instructions

  1. Bread your chicken thighs in a flour, tarragon, salt, and pepper mix.

2. Stick said chicken thighs into a lightly greased pot (we used olive oil). Get them a little bit browned on the outside.

3. Then cut your tomatoes in half and stick them in your pot to cook. The juices from the tomatoes will help cook your chicken.

4. Let it simmer for 45 minutes.

Voila! Dinner is ready!
