This post is part of a 6-day series of the things that my family of four did while we were in Washington D.C. in November of 2021. I will give an account of the things we liked and things that we didn’t like as much. In this way, you can plan the best trip to Washington D.C. (and surrounding areas)!

Dear Adventure Avenue,
Breakfast at the Hotel
I had the eggs and toast (delish!), my parents split an omelet and my brother had the pancakes again.
We got ready in the room before taking an Uber to the SPY museum.
The Spy Museum
There is an interactive portion of the museum that you can do. Some of the interaction portions aren’t required for your overall “spy” mission but can be interesting to do. My brother did a lot of them. I personally enjoy reading about the artifacts and different spies throughout history. A lot of the museum reminded me of Get Smart.
Overall, the museum took us about 2.5 hours. I think we definitely got our money’s worth, and everyone enjoyed it.
Lunch
There is an underground food court located right next to the Spy museum. We decided to go there for lunch as it was so close. My mom and I split a Philly Cheese steak sandwich, my brother got Subway, and my dad tried a rice beef bowl from bibimbap noodle.
Air and Space Museum
After eating lunch, we walked about 15 minutes to the Air and Space Museum. There was what appeared to be a very long line outside to get in; however, the line moved fairly quickly. The museum itself was free but unfortunately most of the museum was closed.
Personally. I’m not really an Air and space fan – much more of an old fashion American history – think American Revolution, Laura Ingalls – or French history type of person.
I wanted to see the X wing that was supposedly on display but it was not there 🙁
The Long Walk in the Cold
It was growing dark, but we were determined to see the Lincoln Memorial and my mom wanted to go to the World War II memorial since she didn’t go with us yesterday to see it. Luckily, it was on the way to Lincoln Memorial.
After the WWII Memorial, we walked down a beautiful tree lined path where some squirrels decided to befriend my mom. I have to say I thought we were going to be attacked by squirrels because I could see them preparing in the trees, ready to pounce.
The Lincoln Memorial was quite impressive. I loved the stonework, and the view of the Washington Monument and its reflection into the reflecting pool was impressive.
When we finished with the Lincoln Memorial, we were freezing, but we decided to stop at the Vietnam Memorial as it was on the way back to the hotel.
(My hands were very numb) so we decided to stop at Starbucks for a hot chocolate. Then proceeded to walk for 20 minutes back to the hotel.
Dinner
My mom and dad were wonderful and went and picked up dinner at Potbelly Sandwiches while my brother and I stayed in the room. I got a delicious meatball sub.
